At J.R. Pulido, DDS, we are a family-focused practice first and foremost. This means each treatment we provide can be tailored to meet the needs of your family members at any age.
Which Treatment is Best?
To make sure we select the right restoration treatments for your needs, we perform a detailed consolation, taking the time to get to know your concerns and goals. Consultations also involve an examination of your current oral and dental health, medical history, and lifestyle habits.
Once we’ve become familiar with every aspect of your smile and gained a full understanding of your needs and expectations for treatment, only then will we recommend the procedures we feel will truly benefit you the most.
How We Repair Dental Damage and Improve Appeal
Fillings are a reliable and favorable way to repair minor decay, cracks, chips, and restore strength to worn teeth from clenching or grinding.
We use white, composite fillings that bond well to teeth. Before application, we’ll match the material to your current tooth shade, making sure aesthetics are also restored when providing good durability and fracture resistance.
Same Day Crowns for Addressing Immediate Concerns and Preserving Teeth
Whether you’re visiting us during a dental emergency or for root canal therapy, we know you need to get back to normalcy as soon as possible. That’s why we proudly provide you and your loved ones with same-day restored function and comfort using CEREC technology.
After the areas in need of treatment are prepped, Dr. Joe and his team load digital impressions taken of your smile into the CEREC software. From there, our milling machine molds, shapes, and polishes a beautiful, life-like crown from a block of porcelain or ceramic material.
Because you can receive your new crown within a single office visit, it eliminates the need for a temporary prosthetic, allowing you to gain a healthy and restored smile safely and quickly.
Saving Smiles with Root Canal Therapy
Are you experiencing persistent pain and tooth sensitivity? Decay and infection have likely entered the inner soft tissues, or pulp, of your tooth. Our team provides treatment with root canal therapy to try and save your natural tooth structure as much as possible.
The goal of a root canal therapy is to preserve natural tooth structure and prevent the need for removal with extraction. Tooth decay eats away at enamel and creates cavities, which allow bacteria to gain access to the inner nerves and tissues of teeth. If left untreated, decay and infection may spread to other teeth and gums, putting your smile’s health in jeopardy. Root canal therapy is designed to remove the infection effectively, preserving more of your smile.
During your procedure, infected nerves and tissues are removed gently; then the root canals are disinfected and filled with an anti-bacterial material. Your tooth is then sealed-off and prepared for your custom filling or crown.
Does Root Canal Therapy Scare You? Here’s 5 Reason Why You Have Nothing to Fear!
- Predictable and straightforward procedure
- Treatment success rates of nearly 85%
- Designed to alleviate pain, not add to it
- Works to save natural teeth as much as possible
- Helps protect teeth from further damage and infection
What Can Be Done About Missing Teeth?
Sometimes in the event of extensive trauma, advanced gum disease, or decay, teeth are already lost or must be adequately removed to protect the health of your smile.
Whatever the cause for your tooth loss, teeth must be replaced. Teeth are responsible for working together to help you chew, bite, and speak properly. When teeth are missing, it not only impacts dental function, but can also lead to negative repercussions on your jawbone, facial aesthetics, and overall quality of life.
Fortunately, Dr. Joe can replace one tooth or all missing teeth in your smile complete with dental implant placement and restoration.
What are Dental Implants and How Do They Help?
While teeth are essential for everyday function, tooth roots are just as vital for providing your jawbone the stimulation it needs to remain full and healthy. When teeth are missing, so are their roots, meaning, there’s nothing keeping your jawbone from weakening due to lack of stimulation. Bone loss and gum tissue recession caused by prolonged tooth loss can compromise your oral health just as much as your appearance.
Dental implants are titanium posts which serve as permanent replacements for missing tooth roots. Because they’re accepted by the body, living tissue and bone grow around the implant, in a fusing process called ostentation. Because of this fusing, dental implants provide your jawbone with the stimulation it needs to remain healthy and strong.
Dental implants consist of three parts. They include:
The implant post is the base which is surgically inserted into the jawbone.
The abutment rests at the gum line and is the attachment needed to connect your custom restoration to your implant(s).
The restoration is the life-like, artificial tooth or teeth which replaces a single missing tooth, or many.
What Does Getting Dental Implants Involve?
Dental implant treatment includes multiple steps, with the process being a little different for each patient. Continue reading below to discover what you can expect when receiving dental implants at our office.
- Your Consultation is necessary to make sure implants are the best choice for your needs. This involves Dr. Joe conducting a full examination of your remaining teeth, oral health, and evaluating the strength and volume of your jawbone. Dental x-rays are also taken of your jawbone, gums, teeth, and facial structures to properly plan for implant placement.
- Your Treatment Plan includes our dentist working closely with you to create a personalized treatment plan, keeping you in informed every step of the way.
- Implant Placement involves Dr. Joe strategically placing your implants in the most ideal positions possible, taking great care to ensure your smile will be replaced correctly.
- Waiting for Osseointegration and Healing includes several months after placement. You’ll be given expert instructions on what do and how to keep your smile healthy during this time. As your bone and tissue fuse around your implants, your beautiful, custom restoration is being fabricated by a trusted dental lab.
- Attaching Your Restoration includes our team inviting you back to our Escondido office to affix your tooth prosthetic to your dental implants(s). When supported by implant posts, dental restorations can permanently replace anything from a single tooth to all missing teeth in your smile.
Can Anyone Get Dental Implants?
Ideal candidates for dental implants must have a healthy and strong jawbone that will support implants and encourage proper healing. If you do not smoke and are in good overall health, chances are you’re a great candidate for dental implants!
However, we do not recommend treatment for children whose smiles are still developing, or individuals with active gum infections or chronic auto-immune conditions.
Which Implant-Supported Restorations Can Replace My Teeth?
Our tooth prosthetics supported by dental implants include:
Crowns - are made in-house, using CEREC technology to produce beautiful restorations used for replacing a single missing tooth with a dental implant. If you’re in need of restoring one lost tooth, an implant-supported crown is an ideal, long-lasting solution.
Fixed Bridges - for replacing one or two missing teeth in a row, we often recommend a dental fixed bridge. These restorations fill gaps caused by missing teeth and use two dental implants on either side of the gap instead of neighboring teeth for long-lasting support.
Full Dentures - are complete restorations which are commonly used to replace all teeth lost in a smile. They are removable for easy cleaning or altering and affix securely to for our more implants.
Partial Dentures - are anchored by implants on either side of the bridge-like appliance. Perfect for replacing sizable gaps within the smile without altering neighboring teeth.
